Orange Blossom Blonde Trans Pecos Rat Snakes
(Bogertophis subocularis)
This is an exciting project for me as I have been looking for an orange blonde suboc for a very long time now. A few years ago I did a joint project that included a light blonde female of mine to a nice orange normal male. This created all normals "het" for lack of a better term for orange blondes. The goal is with each generation to create better looking more vibrant orange blondes. This is going to take several years but should definitely be worth the work and wait! As the orange trait is not recessive the project isn't composed of actual hets for anything but Blonde.
I was lucky enough to breed a "het" male back to his blonde mother (original female used) in 2010... I am very happy with the babies that hatched out and plan on keeping all the blondes and only letting go of the "het" siblings. These are before shed or just after the first shed pics, I will update once they get a little size to them and color up even more. 2011 I hope to breed some of the first generation "hets" as well.
